Little King Hunter is a 4-piece hard rock band based in rocky-shored Halifax, Nova Scotia. Formed in the fall of 2008 by JohnnyV and Luke Deveau, both artists wanted to create music that was stylistically unique and rich with texture. It wasn't long before bassist Mike Akerman completed the band's foundation and serious writing and rehearsing took place. Influenced by artists such as Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd; their music has soaked up the best aspects of hard rock, psychedelic rock and progressive metal.
The band continued to write and gig throughout the following year with a number of different drummers. They recorded some material at the Shambhala School in Halifax and in the fall of 2009 the demo tracks Zombies! and Skipper were released. One year later, in September of 2010, the band released an eponymous 6-track EP and the bands current drummer, Shane Pardy, joined the group. The EP was positively received (locally and online) with some tracks achieving radio play on some local stations.
Mike moved to the west coast for personal reasons in the spring of 2011. The group was shaken by the decision but remained focused on their studio commitments. Several auditions were held to fill the spot and in late August of 2011, Shaun Cowell was chosen as the new low-end for Little King Hunter.
Little King Hunter is set to release their first full-length record, Queen Of All That's Holy And Obscene. QOATHAO was recorded, mixed and mastered at Omni Art Studios in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and digital release is scheduled for November 2012 while release on CD will be in January 2013. Plans are currently in the works to support the album with some shows in various cities around Eastern Canada.
